Well 2008 has arrived, and how is it gong so far, just two days in? So far here it is going very well and I am very excited about this year. I am sure it’s going to be an incredible year!

The last week or so has been great for us here, we’ve had a fantastic time as a family and I’ve even managed to grab some time to do my planning for this year. I’ve written out an action plan down to a weekly schedule on what we need to do to grow the business, enjoy life more and achieve our dreams.

Have you got a written set of goals and aspirations for this year?

This time of year is traditionally a very reflective one and one of new beginnings. This time last year, you had hopes, dreams and aspirations for 2007. How many of these have you realised and how many fell by the wayside? Did they fall by the wayside because you realised you didn’t want them or did they fall by the wayside because you never quite got around to them.

It’s a good time now to think about what you succeeded at in the last year. It’s also a good time to think about what didn’t go as well as you had hoped. Looking at this “failures” is an excellent way to get some feedback on what has worked for you and what hasn’t.

By analysing your failures you can make sure you don’t repeat them and that you do even better this year.

What caused you not to achieve your dreams last year and what can you do about it to make sure it doesn’t happen again this year?

Of course, many people think about New Year’s resolutions and that’s it for their goal setting for the year. They don’t worry about making changes any other time of the year, they may make a New Year’s resolution and stick to it to a few weeks, or they may not.

Those who do stick to their New Year’s resolutions (and indeed any goal) are those who have powerful reasons why they MUST do it.

What are your reasons for achieving any of your goals, dreams or aspirations? Why MUST you do it?

Reasons are your motivation and without powerful, motivating reasons, you will not achieve your dreams.

I’d like to leave you with one thought.

Where do you want to be this time next year?

Do you want to be in the same place you are now?

Or would you rather be somewhere different; somewhere better; somewhere you really want to be?

If you do then you need to get yourself some reasons why you MUST and then take regular and consistent action to make it happen. No one except you can make your dreams a reality, so as the adverts say … JUST DO IT!
